Medicaid Redetermination is the process where recipients’ eligibility is reviewed each year. This process was put on hold since 2020 due to COVID and so folks have not had to go through this process since then. This process will start back up again this year. Medicaid Redetermination is the process where recipients’ eligibility is reviewed each year. This process was put on hold since 2020 due to COVID and so folks have not had to go through this process since then. This process will start back up again this year. Recipients MUST complete their redetermination in order to continue receiving Medicaid benefits.
Enrollment is on a 12-month cycle. An individual on Medicaid has a due date assigned to their case based on when they originally enrolled. This will be their due date for when they need to complete the necessary paperwork.
What families can do now:
MOST IMPORTANT: The most important thing individuals can do is to make sure your address on file is correct. Renewal letters will be sent via snail mail and so it is crucial to verify your address. You can do this in two ways:
Go online to abe.illinois.gov and go to Manage My Case Account (see below)
Call (800) 843-6154
Find your due date so you know when to expect your letter. When you receive your redetermination letter, you will have 30 days to respond.
